Providing free legal aid to women survivors of domestic violence in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Center for Legal Civic Initiatives (CLCI) is an Albanian non-profit organization. It was established in November 1977 and is based in Tirana.
The Center for Legal Civic Initiatives (CLCI) operates as a legal and psychosocial service center for abused and impoverished women. All services provided are free of charge.
The mission of the center is to support, assist and provide legal education to citizens, giving priority to women and girls, in order to increase their access to public institutions, and in particular to the judicial system.
In 2021, the Mediterranean Women's Fund funded a project to collect data on the "referral mechanisms" of women victims of violence. The results of this study helped monitor the proper functioning of the referral system as well as identify achievements, lessons learned and challenges for the future.
The data study is conducted in six Albanian provinces: Berat, Lushnja, Mallakaster, Tepelene, Kruje, Roskovec.
Women survivors, referred by the coordinators present in one of the 6 regions, received free legal assistance, online or face to face.
The results were shared with the local coordinators of the six municipalities involved in the study and with local associations during a roundtable discussion in Berat. Thus, the findings of the data study on "referral mechanisms" can be used for advocacy purposes.
