L'association
Nawat is a feminist collective based in Tripoli, Lebanon, made up of three volunteer activists. Noting that cultural and feminist spaces were desperately lacking in this conservative city, and that the feminist movement was mostly present in the capital, Beirut, the founders of Nawat decided to address this lack. They created a community space, open to all immigrant women workers, refugees and marginalized women and people based on their gender identity or sexual orientation. A space dedicated to study, exchange and the organisation of events. In the long term, the Nawat collective would like to strengthen the women's movement in Lebanon by collaborating with feminist associations in Beirut.
